The Well-Rounded Woman

Living up to her turn-of-the-millennium resolution, Susan MacCallum-Whitcomb doffed her professorial robes and traded university teaching for full-time travel writing in 2000. In the years since, she has covered six continents and contributed to dozens of Fodor’s guide books, as well as a host of magazines, newspapers and websites.

Being a well-rounded woman, Susan writes on an eclectic mix of topics; family travel, however, is a specialty. Since she typically has her husband and two children in tow, she understands the challenges of multi-generational trips and can serve up suggestions for soft adventures, cool accommodations and kid-friendly approaches to iconic destinations.

Always mindful of value, Susan earned her stripes as a “frugalista” long before trend watchers coined the term (and before the economic downturn made it fashionable). So she is also able to offer tips and itineraries that allow readers to maximize their travel budget -- regardless of what that budget may be. Editors and PR or CVB representatives can contact her at home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to learn more.
